Privacy Policy
How America’s Oldest Bars handles data, cookies, and advertising.
Effective date: July 17, 2026. This Privacy Policy explains what information americasbars.com (“we,” “us”) collects, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Who we are
America’s Oldest Bars is an independent editorial guide to the oldest continuously operating bar in every U.S. state. You can reach us any time at tyler.perleberg@gmail.com or via our contact page.
Information we collect
We aim to collect as little as possible.
Information you provide. If you sign up for our newsletter or contact us, we receive the email address and any message you send. We use it only to reply or to send the updates you requested.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we and our service providers automatically receive standard technical data — IP address, browser type, device, referring page, and pages viewed — through cookies and similar technologies for analytics and advertising, as described below.
Information stored on your device. Your saved bars, visited bars, and road-trip itinerary are stored locally in your browser (localStorage). This never leaves your device and is not transmitted to us.
Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small files stored on your device. We use them for two purposes: analytics (understanding which pages are popular so we can improve the site) and, where permitted, advertising (see below). You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings; doing so will not break the core features of this site.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site in aggregate. Google Analytics sets cookies and processes usage data on our behalf. Learn more at Google’s Privacy Policy, and you can opt out with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Advertising & Google AdSense
This site displays ads served by Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- You can opt out of a third-party vendor’s use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info/choices (US) or youronlinechoices.eu (EU/UK).
- For more on how Google uses data when you use our partners’ sites or apps, see google.com/policies/technologies/partner-sites.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we present a consent request before personalized-advertising cookies are used, consistent with Google’s requirements, and you may withdraw or change consent at any time.
Third-party links
Bar profiles link to official websites, sources, and mapping services operated by others. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites; review their policies separately.
Your choices & rights
Depending on where you live (for example, under the EU/UK GDPR or the California Consumer Privacy Act), you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you, and to opt out of certain data uses. Because we collect very little, this usually means unsubscribing from the newsletter or clearing cookies — but you can also email us and we will help. We do not sell your personal information.
Children
This site concerns alcohol and is intended for adults of legal drinking age. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.
Changes
We may update this policy as the site evolves or as legal requirements change. Material changes will be reflected here with a revised effective date.
